Did you know that it has been said, back in 1938, that horses were among the animals treated at that time? The practice was closed down during WWII "while the veterinarian - Dr. Davies, went off to war." The practice was reopened in 1946 by Alex Hillerson, VMD. He operated the hospital as a solo practitioner under Springfield Veterinary Clinic. The practice was purchased by John Farhy, DVM in July, 1973 and renamed Springfield Animal Hospital. It was said by Alex Hillerson that some of the first early orthopedic surgery performed in private practice was done by a Dr. J. Jenny at Springfield Animal Hospital in the 1940's. During the early 80's, the hosptial was open 24 hours a day. Today the hosptial remains as a local landmark owned by Dr. Laureen Pottynski and Dr. Omar Farias-Llovet.  SAH continues to be dedicated to providing quality general small animal medicine which has served generations of clients.
